The airport must ensure its development is sustainable, by implementing an environment policy.
In the last few years, sustainable development has become an integral part of Montpellier Méditerranée Airport's overall development strategy. The airport was certified ISO 9001 since 2002, and has recently been certified ISO 14001 without any remarks, relating to control of all the environmental components. Montpellier is therefore the third French airport to be certified ISO 14 001.

This quality certification demonstrates to our customers, whether users and passengers, our determination to constantly improve the services we provide. Environmental certification enables the airport to anticipate its future development right now and to make the undertakings set out below.
- To comply with legislation by anticipating it,
- To inform and communicate with complete transparency, by maximising the involvement of local residents and local authorities affected by the airport's activity, and doing everything possible to ensure flight paths are strictly controlled in order to limit and even reduce existing noise pollution,
- To prevent nuisance and act when faced with pollution
- To take into account in our development activities the proximity of a sensitive environment, consisting of the sea, the adjacent ponds and a listed site; Etang de l'Or (Natura 2000 site),
- To control the quality of our discharges into this natural environment,
- To preserve the natural species (wildlife and flora) living on this site,
- To maximise re-use of the waste generated by all the airport's activities and to reduce the volume of non-recycled waste,
- To monitor our air quality level,
- To include the airport's partners in this approach.
Gérard BORRAS, President of the Montpellier CCI, and Michel FROMONT, Chairman of the Aeronautical Committee, are particularly attentive to customer satisfaction and the airport's future. "The IS0 9001 certification, which the airport obtained in 2002, and the ISO 14001 certification, are not an end in themselves, but rather a starting point for a process of constant improvement ".
