Destination Oran
Oran, Algeria's second-largest city, has managed to preserve its identity and traditions despite the succession of invaders that have marked its history.
Founded in 902 by Muslims from Andalusia, it was occupied by the Almohads and then the Zianids, to whom the city owes its famous Sidi El Houari mosque. Its port was already very prosperous at this time, and Oran maintained trade relations with many Mediterranean countries. Oran fell into the hands of the Spanish for 3 centuries, and still retains important vestiges of its past: the Fort of Santa Cruz, the Spanish garrison, the walls of the Casbah, the Fort of El Mers El Kebir, the Spanish Gate and other monuments around the city.
