Destination Copenhague
Located on the eastern coast of the island of Sjaelland, as well as on the smaller island of Amager, Copenhagen lies opposite the Swedish cities of Malmö and Landskrona.
Transformed into a temple of design and ecology, the city has found the perfect balance between the royal style of Christiansborg and the latest architectural innovations, such as Henning Larsen's Opera House and the ‘Black Diamond’, whose black granite facades are home to the Royal Library. The latest creation is the immense blue cube of the Concert Hall, designed by Jean Nouvel. So remember to add these to your list of things to see in Copenhagen.
Unmissable
-
Tivoli garden
Pass through the monumental entrance arch to discover Denmark's most popular park. As much a place of amusement as a historical setting, Tivoli Gardens will captivate young and old alike.
-
Nyhavn
The popular and symbolic district of Copenhagen. With its colorful facades, its many shops and of course its quays, Nyhavn is the very embodiment of Copenhagen.
-
Amalienborg palace
Composed of 4 buildings, which are as many palaces, the winter residence of the royal family is a must-see in Copenhagen. One of the buildings houses a museum retracing 400 years of history of the Danish monarchy.

Travelling in Copenhagen is a sport! Dotted with cafés with terraces and pedestrian streets, criss-crossed by canals, the city is an invitation to wander, on foot or by bike. The quays of Nyhavn, with their colourful facades, are the ideal place to start your visit, as this is where the history of the city began. Opened up in 1669 to facilitate the transport of goods, this former herring-fishing port is now home to pleasure boats and sailing ships.
Following on from the quays, the astonishing architecture of the new Royal Theatre is set among former eighteenth-century warehouses, while the Amalienborg Palace, the current monarch's residence, opens onto a large square where the changing of the Royal Guard takes place every day at midday, with the same martial precision as in London. In just a few years, Copenhagen has become the new Mecca of gastronomy, favouring the organic trend and encouraging the rise of ‘healthy eating’: the Michelin guide awarded no less than 14 stars to the Danish capital in its 2012 edition, and two Danish restaurants, Noma and Geranium, feature in the list of the 50 best restaurants in the world! So, if you’re a fan of good restaurants, book your plane ticket to Copenhagen.
